Jeanne Espinoza, RN, CARN – Registered Nurse and Certified Addictions Registered Nurse
Jeanne Espinoza was born and raised in Gruver Texas until age 14 when she moved to Port Isabel. She attended Med High in Mercedes, Texas and studied nursing at University of Texas at Brownsville.
Jeanne says she came to Origins through recommendations she received from friends whom she had met in recovery. She had been working as the school nurse in nearby Port Isabel when one of the students under her care, whose mother worked at Origins, encouraged her to apply for a nursing position.
If there were only one thing you could tell us about working in the area of treatment, what would it be?
The patients I care for will make my day, in some way, every day. They will always surprise me.
What have you learned through your experience working in treatment?
I have learned that addiction is unpredictable and that it takes perseverance to overcome. Those who achieve recovery are amazing individuals, and I get to witness their hard earned transformations every day.
Do you hold any credentials or certifications, or do you participate in any other professional activities outside of work?
I’m a Registered Nurse (RN), and I have an extra credential as a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN).
Are you in recovery yourself? If so, what do you love most about being in recovery?
I am in recovery myself, and the thing I love most about it is how it has disciplined me to spend more time in contact with God. I also love the amazing people I have met and how their stories inspire me to continue to put in the necessary effort that it takes to stay recovered.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Do you have any pets or engage in special hobbies?
I am married with two children. In my spare time, I enjoy fellowship at church, surfing, and just spending time at the beach with my family.
Is there anything else you might like to share?
I enjoy so much what I do at Origins, and I feel at home working in this specialty area.
