Britt Arizpe, RN – Registered Nurse – Hanley Center at Origins
Britt Arizpe was born in Brooklyn, New York. She moved to West Palm Beach with her parents at the tender age of three and has aspired to be a Registered Nurse ever since she was a little girl. Britt started her detox-nursing career at another local treatment facility and then joined Hanley Center at Origins as a staff nurse, moving up soon to a charge position. Britt has an Associate’s Degree in Science of Nursing (ASN) from Palm Beach State College where she is currently working on attaining her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Britt observed how many health care professionals often overlook a patient’s spirituality and the role it may play in his or her health care; this observation factored into her decision to pursue a BSN. Britt’s combination of clinical expertise and extensive Detox experience provides the foundation for a holistic approach that is critical to good patient care – an approach that considers not only the physical aspects of a patient’s illness but also the emotional and spiritual elements.
If there were only one thing you could tell us about working in the area of treatment, what would it be?
I love to see the transformation of the patients from the time when they walk in the door until the day they successfully discharge from Hanley Center. It’s also gratifying to see the patients when they come back for the alumni meetings when they stop by to update me on their successes.
What have you learned through your experience working in treatment?
I’ve learned that addiction can happen to anyone of any status, and that addiction does not discriminate.
Do you hold any credentials or certifications?
I am a Registered Nurse (RN).
Are you in recovery yourself? If so, what do you love most about being in recovery?
I am not in recovery myself, but I’ve dealt with addiction within my family and have great compassion for anyone who suffers from this illness.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Do you have any pets or engage in special hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. We have one dog named Hank. I also love rollerblading and biking.
Is there anything else you might like to share?
It’s a pleasure working for Hanley Center at Origins. I really enjoy the work I do and the people I work with here.
