Janaleen Solis, LPC-I, LCDC – Primary Counselor
Jana is a native of McAllen, Texas where she has lived since childhood. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas–Pan American and a master’s degree in counseling from Dallas Baptist University, Jana joined our Origins Behavioral HealthCare family in March 2015.
What brought you to Origins?
It was honestly a “God thing” in the way certain circumstances occurring in my life led me to want to know more about working in the field of addiction. I witnessed the progression of the disease in people I loved, and I wanted to make a difference. I had heard really great things about Origins and the care they provide for clients, so I took a chance and applied. I am so grateful how things fell into place.
If there were only one thing you could tell us about working within your client specialty area, what would it be?
Anything is possible. Change is possible. Healing is possible. Loving yourself is possible. Freedom is possible.
What have you learned through your experience working in treatment?
My experience working in treatment has definitely developed so much within me, professionally and personally. It’s amazing to work alongside colleagues with incredible talent and passion for helping others. There’s a wealth of knowledge in every department, and having the opportunity to work together as a team and be part of many people’s journeys to healing and witnessing those transformations is so big and so amazing.
Do you hold any credentials or certifications, or do you participate in any other professional activities outside of work?
I sure do. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-I) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). In addition, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Do you have any pets or engage in special hobbies?
Traveling and camping are big things for me, for sure! I have great friends and family who are part of these adventures, so I’m very thankful to make memories with them. I enjoy spending time with my family; my lovely mother, my two sisters, and my brother are my rocks. I also have a cat named Clementine, and she likes to pretend she’s the head of the household.
