Courage is defined as “the ability to do something that frightens one” or “strength in the face of pain or grief.” Walking into recovery takes an immense amount of courage. As newcomers, we are often terrified at the prospect of living a sober life even if we know we cannot continue to live life the way we were. As our sponsors take us through the 12-Steps, we begin to feel as though our fear is dissipating. We sense a new strength flowing into us. This is God! We are able to transform our fear into courage with the help of God, our sponsors, and the fellowship.
Today, I will remember to turn fear into faith. I will remain courageous in the face of uncertainty and remember that with God I can do anything.
