The holiday season used to be a time of drunkenness and chaos. It was an excuse to be gluttonous and indulge in our addiction. We ruined family functions with our drug-addled antics or avoided our family and friends at all costs. Once we find sobriety the holidays begin to take on new meaning. We find gratitude in the ability to share a meal or a conversation and take part in the celebration without the need to alter our consciousness. This is a result of the work we have done with our sponsor, fellowship, and Higher Power.
I will find gratitude in my ability to be present this holiday season.
