Alan was 60 and a successful businessman when his wife and business partners confronted him about his heavy drinking.

The Winter Springs man agreed to check into addiction treatment for 28 days — but on the condition that he go to rehab with people his own age. Alan (in keeping with the no-last-names rule of Alcoholics Anonymous, he asked to be identified by his first name) wasn’t keen on group therapy sessions with tatted-up 20-year-olds.
