Inhalants (paint, poppers, wippets, duster) | Inhalant Addiction

Inhalant Addiction

Our hearts go out to you, those who have family members afflicted with addiction to inhalants, like wippets (nitrous oxide), poppers, duster, spray paint, etc. We at Origins Recovery Centers understand the very grave nature of your loved one’s addiction and we want you to know that we are ready, willing and very able to help your loved one, as we have helped so many others in their pursuit of freedom from inhalants.

We want to let you know, in no uncertain terms, that your loved one’s drug of choice poses some of the greatest neurological harm that we have seen done by any form of substance abuse. Our observation of this is supported by clinical data which seems to indicates that brain damage your loved one incurs when huffing/inhaling in fact holds a great degree of permanency and takes a very long time to fully recovery from. It is quite likely that your loved one while in the grips of inhalant addiction is doing permenant damage to themselves and it is our hope that they can recover before they do irreperable harm.

One of the most tragic aspects we have observed with respect to inhalant addiction is that very often they are substances abused from a very early age since things like spray paint, air duster and glue are very easy for even young people obtain. We have seen a definite increase in the use of inhalants among adolescents.

Additionally, many of our clients who come to us addicted to amyl/butyl nitrates or “poppers” often used them initially for their purported sexual enhancing properties. In time, however, our clients report that they got to the point where they were not interested in sexual intercourse unless they had poppers available and, ultimately, they reached the point where they had no interest in anything but the poppers themselves.

Inhalant addiction can take many forms and we want you to know that we have great competency within treating this horrible form of addiction. Your loved one will be in the very best hands while on our campus, learning how to gain freedom from inhalants.
