Ecstasy Addiction | MDMA Addiction
We understand that your loved one’s MDMA (“ecstasy”) addiction has become a problem and we want you to know that we will take great care in treating them, as we are very experienced in combating addiction to this particular drug.
In Ecstasy, your loved one has been seduced by a very subtle, yet very horrible and destructive foe. Since it can be taken in pill form and since the euphoria produced by the drug is heavenly it mistakenly gets enjoys a reputation of being relatively harmless. This is just outright, patently false. The reality is that MDMA does an exceptionally high amount of neurological damage to users of the substance. In fact, after a year’s time, the brain of an ecstasy addict is in total more damaged than a late-stage, long-term heroin addict.
Probably the most disturbing thing about your loved one’s addiction to ecstasy is given that it is still a relatively “new” drug there has not been a whole lot of opportunity to investigate the true long-term effects of the drug. For instance, heroin and cocaine have been around long enough for us to discover that, over a long enough period of time of sustained sobriety, the brains of heroin and cocaine addicts will actually return to relatively similar to their natural state prior the use of the drug. Since we do not yet have the data to make this assessment with respect to Ecstasy, it is quite possible that the damage done by this drug is much more permanent and, moreover, some of the preliminary data with respect to how aggressively Ecstasy destroys the brain suggests that it may in fact be irreparable damage.
One of the absolute biggest risks posed by your loved one’s ectasy use is it is generally one of the most counterfeited drugs out there and quite often the substance present within the phoney Ecstasy pill may in fact be a whole host of other very harmful chemicals. In fact, fake ecstasy is so prevalent, there are even “test kits” sold to Ecstasy users so that they can test their pills for the presence of MDMA. However, according the great many MDMA addicts we have treated, the reality is that someone in the midst of Ecstasy addiction is quite impulsive and most of the time if they do not have their “test kit,” they will just opt to pop a pill purported to be MDMA in order to test if it is real. This is clearly a very dangerous thing for your loved one to be partaking in.
In using Ecstasy, your loved one has seriously harmed their body’s natural ability to produce Serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter that is absolutely crucial in allowing us to feel happiness and in controlling anxiety. For those addicted to Ecstasy, they may in fact only be able to feel happiness while on the drug which is likely the reason they are so beholden to it. If they don’t take it, they will be faced with severe depression and anxiety.
