This is reflected in news reports of celebrities struggling with prescription drug problems, including Steven Tyler, Rush Limbaugh, Burt Reynolds, Michael Jackson, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Elton John helps Eminem fight drug addiction January 3, 2010 No Comments
Elton John recently told the BBC that he’s been helping rapper Eminem cope with drug addiction. Both Elton John and Eminem have a history of drug addiction. John is a former cocaine addict and alcoholic who has been sober for 16 years, and Eminem turned to him for help when he wanted to get sober himself. Eminem entered rehab in 2005 for an addiction to sleeping pills, but nearly overdosed on methadone after leaving rehab. He has since been sober for a year, and recently completed an album about his experience, titled “Relapse.”
Relapse is not an uncommon problem after a trip to rehab, but the program at Origins Recovery Center is designed to help Residents find long-term sobriety. Its custom-tailored approach is ideal for helping men who have relapsed in the past, identifying and addressing areas of difficulty. The innovative aftercare program helps Residents transition from the residential environment, and provides a year-long interaction that truly makes The Origin Experience a comprehensive program for addressing drug addiction.
Former Michael Jackson Doctor Employee Dies December 31, 2009 No Comments
TMZ reports that an office employee of Dr. Arnold Klein, Michael Jackson’s longtime doctor, was recently found dead in Los Angeles. Bruce Ayers, who worked for Dr. Klein for three years and met Michael Jackson a number of times, was fired in February for stealing drugs and money from Arnold Klein’s office. Ayers had a history of abusing pain medications, and although he was clean for a time, his drug problem appeared to recur in early 2009.
Prescription medications, particularly pain medication, are widely misused and abused. In fact, prescription drugs are now the top illegal narcotics for addiction in the United States. It appears that, as with many people suffering from a drug addiction, Bruce Ayers relapsed back into addiction after a period of sobriety. The program at Origins Recovery Center is an excellent choice for men who have a history of chronic relapse. The customized plan and limit of 40 residents provides the individual attention that will help you turn your life around and establish long-term sobriety. If you’ve tried drug rehab before with limited success, do yourself a favor and try The Origins Experience. For

Brittany Murphy’s death may be linked to drug addiction December 22, 2009 No Comments
After 32-year-old actress Brittany Murphy’s sudden death, investigators discovered large amounts of prescription drugs in her home, including Klonopin, Ativan, Propanolol, and Hydrocodone. Reports are that law enforcement considers accidental overdose as the suspected cause of death. No illegal drugs were found in Brittany Murphy’s home, although in the past she had faced allegations of heroin and cocaine abuse.
Regardless of whether legal or illegal drugs are being used, drug abuse and addiction is a serious problem. Many people think of prescription drugs as safe, but abuse of any drug is dangerous and a sign of addiction. Prescription drugs are the second most commonly abused class of drugs, with an estimated 20% of Americans having abused them.
The untimely death of a young, promising actress like Brittany Murphy, as well as previous deaths of people like Heath Ledger which occurred under similar circumstances, should remind us of the dangers of prescription drug abuse. If you are abusing prescription drugs, you can get help before it’s too late. Origins Recovery Center offers an innovative and customized approach to drug addiction recovery, and is focused on helping you gain and maintain long-term sobriety. 10 years in prison or 10 weeks in rehab? December 21, 2009 No Comments
Kevin J. Ante is ranked among Ohio’s top drunk-driving offenders after recently being charged with his 17th OVI (operating a vehicle impaired) offense. This latest charge occurred just four months after Ante was released from prison, where he served 4 years for a prior conviction. His first conviction occurred in 1982, and he has since served two prison terms.
According to Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper, “Evidently, this person needs a longer time in prison to get the changes in his life that he needs. He received four years last time; now he’s going to be eligible for up to 10 years. He’s putting all of us at risk because he wants to drink and drive. He knows he has an alcohol problem.”
Andrea Rehkamp, spokeswoman for Southwest Ohio Mothers Against Drunk Driving, cites a study that found police make one arrest for every 88 episodes of impaired driving, calculating that “If he’s been arrested 17 times, he’s most likely been out there drunk (almost 1,500 times).” Ms. Rehkamp argues that “he needs him to be locked up for as long as he possibly can. That’s the only thing that’s going to stop him from driving drunk.”
It is true that people suffering from alcoholism cannot stop drinking based only on desire or probable consequences. Alcoholism is a disease of the body and spirit that needs to be professional addressed in order for a person to regain control of their life and enjoy long-term sobriety. The rehab program at Origins Recover Center is an excellent choice for addicts prone to chronic relapse, who have been unable to arrest their decline into alcoholism in any other way. The innovative Origins Experience is designed to help men succeed in their battle against alcoholism and drug addiction, with a comprehensive Twelve Step model and robust aftercare program. If you have a drug or alcohol problem, contact Origins before your only alternative is “to be locked up as long as [possible].”
